History -

• Troop 49 was founded in 2001. It is a youth-led Troop with guidance from trained, qualified leaders.
• Troop 49 consists of ~10 Scouts, mainly from Erie. Target of 25 scouts with 2 years.
• Troop 49 has a year-round program that will challenge the Scouts to learn, to survive, and thrive in all types of conditions.
• Troop 49 provides leadership training and a safe environment to practice in.
• Community service is a core part of our program and is year-round.
• Troop 49 advancement program encourages the development of outdoor/indoor skills and leadership competency.
• Our Merit Badge program promotes the investigation into many topics of interest.
• The Awards program utilizes Scouting and non-Scouting awards to challenge and reward the Scouts in numerous fields of endeavor.
• We strive develop friendships and a sense of camaraderie that will lead to teamwork and a sense of group accomplishment.
• The program is designed to develop each boy’s ability to work with people of all ages. They are mentored to become mentors.
• Robust Fund-Raising program not selling popcorn
